Dog Hydrotherapy in Spokane

What Is Hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. Some think underwater treadmill, while others think dock diving. Although there is a place for both of these, my spa is much different. The mental state of you and your pup is taken seriously. My facility is built with emotional and physical safety in mind. The necessary time will be taken to make sure your pup feels safe and comfortable to reach maximum results.

The water in my pool is 92-94 degrees. This will not only bring oxygen and increased blood flow to injured areas, but it will also be comfy and cozy for your pup to promote relaxation. The pool is 18’ x7.5’ giving your pup ample room to stretch, float and swim bearing no weight on the limbs. Every session will be individualized to suit each pup’s needs. I will be ever-present with your pup providing them security and reassurance while building their trust.

Where it All Began...

My journey of hydrotherapy started with Charlie. She was a rescue hospice boxer who was suffering from Degenerative Myelopathy (DM). DM is much like ALS for humans. The connection between the brain and the limbs breaks down. After doing much research, I started brining her to the only warm water therapy pool in town. It was so relaxing for her. Although, there is no cure, I wanted her quality of life to be at its highest.

She has since passed and soon thereafter, my beloved pup Bam started showing signs of DM. Since taking Charlie to water therapy, the only pool closed. I very much wanted this experience for Bam, but places in town only had a treadmill and it was just not quite the right environment I was looking for my soul dog. Since I could not find what I was looking for in my area, I decided to create it.

I went to school for hydrotherapy at LaPaw Spa and became certified and became a member of the Association For Canine Water Therapy. With a lot of work and support, my very own spa was born! I have since been selected to become the first apprentice for the Instructor Training at LaPaw Spa. I am very excited to train others. The more people I train, the more dogs will benefit.
